Vittoria Apuana

Vittoria Apuana is a fraction of the municipality of Forte dei Marmi. It is a green and quiet area, dotted with villas surrounded by gardens and pine forests. Very popular in summer as a holiday resort, Vittoria Apuana has also been chosen as a holiday destination by many artists and famous people over the years. Its small center was born at the end of the 19th century when a factory producing explosive materials for civilian uses destined for the nearby marble quarries was opened in the uncultivated territories of the area, but after various troubles it was purchased by SIPE. Subsequently, at the beginning of the First World War, it was converted to the production of war munitions, employing 3,500 workers and purchasing many surrounding areas. A pier for sea transport and a small shipyard were also built. This building is now used for various events and takes the name of Villa Bertelli.
